Making a Plan to Vote
Early voting in North Carolina ends soon. If you have not cast your ballot yet, now is the time to make a plan. Election Day is Tuesday, March 3. Whether you choose to vote early or on Election Day, your participation matters.
Voting is one of the most direct ways to take part in decisions that affect our daily lives. Local and state elections influence public schools, transportation, public safety, healthcare access, and many other community priorities. When eligible voters participate, our communities are stronger and more representative of the people who live in them.

Here is what you need to know about voting in North Carolina.

Early Voting
Early voting, also called one stop absentee voting, is available at designated locations in each county. During early voting, eligible residents can register and vote on the same day. This option provides flexibility with dates, times, and locations within your county. Early voting ends February 28, so check your county’s schedule and hours as soon as possible.

Election Day Voting
Election Day is Tuesday, March 3. On that day, you must vote at your assigned polling place based on your home address. Polling places are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you are in line by 7:30 p.m., you are allowed to vote.
Vote by Mail
The deadline to request a mail in ballot has passed, but there is still time to mail your ballots in. If you have already requested a mail ballot, be sure to follow all instructions carefully and return it on time. You can return your ballot in person to your county's board of election site or you can apply the needed postage and mail it in. Your ballot must be received by 7:30pm on election day, March 3, as there is no longer a grace period for postmarked mail in ballots.
